The Cardiovascular Services 2015 Symposium will provide education on anatomical, pathophysiologic, and therapeutic aspects of cardiovascular disease. Specific case presentations will discuss: Radial access, Indications for device therapy, Heart failure, Atrial Fib, Loop therapy, Anticoagulation, and Ablation.

Target audience includes:  Physicians, PA’s, NP’s, nurses, surgical scrub techs, echo sonographers, radiology technologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pre-hospital, hospital chaplains, and all others working with the cardiovascular patient population.

Objectives
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
• Understand signs & symptoms of early treatment for chest pain to ensure minimal cardiac damage (Woods)
• Identify regional plan for STEMI care & algorithms for analytic care and referral to Percutaneous coronary intervention care (Trent)
• Recognition of STEMI/Acute MI(Arunakul)
• Identify new approach to cardiac intervention(Arunakul)
• Describe indications for device therapy(Rowe)
• Understand appropriate use of external wearable defibrillator(Rowe)
• Describe the incidence and prevalence of heart failure(Rowe)
• List the common etiologies of heart failure
• Define the compensatory mechanisms that occur due to heart failure(Rowe)
• Identify current assessment and treatment modalities for heart failure patients(Rowe)
• Discuss the background of Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib), including incidence and epidemiology(Penick)
• Assess studies that examine different management strategies for this disease(Penick)
• Describe pertinent information for medications that are used to treat A-Fib and how that information is important for those managing care at the patient’s bedside(Penick)
