Program Description and Target Audience
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, “Injury is the leading cause of death in the United States and continues to occur every day and in every State of our Nation.” Some of the statistics include, “Traumatic injuries are estimated to be responsible for over 161,000 deaths each year and for an estimated death rate of 5.9 for every 100,000 persons. Trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans 35 years of age and younger, and for U.S. residents, unintentional injury ranks as the 5th most common cause of death.”
This conference is designed to enhance the multi-disciplinary team approach and continuing professional development to effectively manage the trauma patient from impact to recovery. It is the goal of the multi-disciplinary team to provide the best care in order to facilitate the best possible recovery and patient outcomes. The following professionals will benefit from this educational activity: nurses, pre-hospital, hospital chaplains, respiratory therapists and all other professionals working with the pre-hospital and trauma patient.
