Description and Target Audience: This American Heart Association workshop is designed to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. This program is designed for physicians, nurses, paramedics, and respiratory therapists, who either direct or participate in resuscitation of a infant or child, whether in or out of the hospital. The update course is for those who have had PALS within the last 2 years.

Testing: Written exam which must be passed with an 84%. One-on-one skills testing required.

Educational Credit:
Per the Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration, Division 2255-Missouri Board for Respiratory Care, 20 CSR 2255-4.010 Continuing Education Requirements, Section 6-C, “Six (6) hours will be awarded for the successful completion of a course (excluding preparatory courses) related to Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS/Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Programs identified within this subsection will not require pre-approval by AARC, its state affiliates or the board for acceptance as hours towards fulfilling the continuing education requirement. However, not more than a total of twelve (12) hours will be awarded for any combination of the above mentioned programs during a two (2)-year period.” Contact hours are 6.0 for this activity.
CoxHealth Prehospital Services is an approved provider of continuing education by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Unit of EMS. This activity has been approved for 6.5 contact hours. The Training Center number is 07710C.
There are no credit hours for physicians or nurses.
This activity has been approved by CoxHealth for 2.5 trauma contact hours for CoxHealth employees.

Participants will receive statements of credit at the end of the program when all requirements for credit have been met. Satisfactory completion of objectives will occur through course attendance.
