Welcome to the Nursing Department website of Cox College in Springfield, Missouri. Nursing education opportunities at Cox College include an Associate Degree in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, and a Master of Science in Nursing. The opportunities for a nurse in today’s society span expertise from helping a young family bring new life into the world to sharing time and memories with a patient facing a life-limiting illness. Cox College can help you become a part of the nursing tradition.
Our departmental mission is to provide excellence in educational programs offered and to prepare nurses at the associate, baccalaureate, and masters levels, which support the overall college mission that Cox College is committed to excellence by meeting the educational needs of students and the health care community. Students receive a hands-on approach to learning in top-rated community facilities and environments, including a state of the art Simulation Center. The simulation lab assists the students in developing technical skills as well as critical thinking skills essential for the professional nurse. Leadership and governance opportunities are available and encouraged for students in the Student Nurse Association and as representatives within the college.
Nursing students are taught by nursing faculty who have been educated at institutions across the country. They serve as leaders in the nursing community as well as role models for our students. Scholarly activities and community involvement are evident in our academic success.
As we begin the academic year, it is my privilege to serve the College as Dean and look forward to working together with faculty, staff and students to advance the field of nursing. I invite your comments, questions, and suggestions.
